THERE’S A THOUSAND YOUS, THERE’S ONLY ONE OF ME

Or whatever it was that Kanye said.

Understanding the importance of individuality. Mel Robbins says the likelihood of you being you is one in ….This reminds me of the scripture in the Bible about our Creator forming us in our wombs and knowing the amount of hairs on our heads. Similar to how he knows the name of each star in the sky. Science and religion agree on this one thing.. that we are all unique and are created differently. Our DNA alone is what makes us individually who we are. Even twins who once shared the same womb grow up to be two separate people with different personalities and mindsets.

Although we all have this distinction between us, we are growing in a world that promotes conformity. Although we are all different, we are choosing to be the same; act the same, look the same, dress the same and even think the same way. Don’t choose to be one of many! Embrace your uniqueness, no matter what. Because the truth is, we all have something distinct and special to offer this world.

Sure you can be inspired by others. but there are things within us that rarely can be mimicked…that sets us apart at our core. These traits cannot be taken from you because they are you!

YOUR EXPERIENCES..YOUR STORY

The experiences you’ve had in this life is specifically curated for your growth. It has shaped you into the person you are today. No one can take that from you. No one has been what you have been through. No one has walked a mile in your shoes!

Sometimes we can be ashamed of the things that happened to us, that if given the opportunity, we would change everything about our past.

Every experience is meant to be taken as a lesson. We are meant to gain wisdom and knowledge from experience. We are supposed to use trying times as a guide in the right direction. Your experiences are a part of what makes you, use that to your advantage because it is your story to tell and no one else’s.

YOUR CHOICE IN MUSIC

When I was younger, I used to be embarrassed of some of the music I genuinely liked. It was not socially acceptable to like a certain genre of music especially where I grew up. For example, I loved rock music.

What do I look like? Embracing rock when everyone else loved hip hop.

The older I got, the more I realized how stupid it actually was. Like why does the music that I play in my headphones affect you in any way? They’re MY ears. It’s my life and I am the only one who gets to live it. So why should I care if someone accepts the music I listen to. I then started embracing the music I love, regardless of other people’s opinion. I embrace that I have an ear for diversity. I embraced what different sounds of music invoke in me.

In a society that is dead set on being popular and ….don’t give up that part of yourself that is truly you. Don’t pretend to like a song because it’s going viral and because all of your friends love it. Don’t pretend to dislike a song because it’s not within the constructs the norm..

Music plays a big role in your personality whether you realize it or not. Your personal taste in music is something that someone else can’t take from you. They can try to pretend to like the music that you do, but at the end of the day, if they really don’t they are only torturing themselves and that’s hilarious.

YOUR STYLE

A form of self expression. A creative outlet. There is a difference in feeling when you wear your clothes and you don’t let them wear you. That means you exude a different level of confidence when you are feeling amazing in the outfit you choose to put on. This is what someone cannot take from you. Your ability to express yourself through your clothes.

Sure someone can buy the same items even style them the same way but both will be speaking a different language. An example of this is Zendaya and 2025 Met Gala outfits. Both wore very similar clothing, even to the point of discussion “Who wore it better?” Personally, to me I thought they looked amazing.

This could be the way you wear your hair, the way you do your makeup, your tattoos and piercings, nail art …accessories…whatever! you get the point.

It’s not about what’s trending. It’s about what genuinely makes you happy when you get dressed and walk out of the house. So as long as you feel comfortable, confident and most iimportantly feel like YOU. It took me a while to get this, the importance of the way you dress and how you feel. There’s a big correlation in “if you feel good, you look good and if you look good, you feel good.” I get it now.

YOUR IMPERFECTIONS

You know that …that you hate so much....guess what? That’s what makes you you. That’s what people notice when they think of you. You’ll be surprised how the slightest change can make such a huge impact on your appearance. Let me show you some examples.

Every one is looking to improvise themselves to the point that they are looking like clones.

YOUR HOBBIES

The things you love to do on your down time is telling. When you do something you genuinely have hobbies that you love to do, it’s usually to fulfill a ……Like for me, I found a hobby in aerial hoop. That is something I love to do. Someone else can try to pretend they enjoy this hobby, but again if they don’t have genuine reason to like it, they are only lying and torturing themselves.

Be your own person. Love what you love and love what you do. Life is too short to be…

YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR

Only you will find funny what you find funny. Sure we can always pretend to find something funny just to fit in or not look like the odd ball out but its the most uncomfortable feeling. I only want to laugh if I genuinely find something funny, not because I’m trying to relate to someone. I don’t believe we even know why we find what we find funny to be funny. I mean, theres all different types of humor; dry humor, dark humor.

There is nothing like genuine authentic laughter. The gut wrenching laughs where you just cant control yourself. This is something so personal and unique to you, it’d be absolutely difficult for anyone to mimic this aspect of you.

This includes your laugh. Personally I hate my laugh. But guess what? it’s me. I’m known for my laugh no matter how embarrassed I am of it. And because it’s so hard to change, I gotta just stick with it. You know. I’m learning to embrace this part of me. But that’s something no one can take from me.

YOUR VALUES

That is your morals, your integrity. What is important to you in this life. Our experiences contribute to what we view as valuable. Maybe you value money, family, fame, . These are engraved in your brain and only you know why it has the level of importance it does deep within your heart.

One thing I'm proud to say no one can take from me is my wisdom. We all have unique qualities about us that make us stand out. Though we may experience similar events, they are still so greatly unique to …
